Otto Ehling


Otto started piano at age two and began giving recitals at four. At 8 years of age, Otto was a soloist at the Ford Theater for the Brazilian Summer Festival. At 10 he was selected city wide to play Beethoven at the Greek Theater, "Youth at the Greek". In addition to having won several prestigious piano competitions, he was the youngest student ever awarded and elementary school piano scholarship (he was 6 at the time). He has had 3 one-man shows at the Barnsdall Art Theater that were benefits for Brazilian Orphanages, and he has performed several times at the motion picture home for ill and retired motion picture people. He also played chamber music at the Vancover Academy of Music in the summer of 2002.

Raised as a Brasilian-American, he was introduced to Bossa-Nova and samba at a very young age. This foundation was his gateway to discovering the modern jazz idiom. At age 19 he is a sophomore at the University of Nevada Las Vegas studying with David Loeb. Through the school he has had the opportunities to play for Gladys Knight, Wayne Newton, Chris Potter, Gerald Wilson, Anthon E. Zuiker, the creator of the tv series "CSI", and many more. This fall Otto will play for the Producers at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas featuring Tony Danza. Otto enjoys performing both classical and jazz music and loves composing modern jazz style tunes. He is very proud to be a UNLV REBEL and is thrilled to be apart of the jazz community here in Vegas.
